Q: I heard you moved fields. Where would I have to bring my child for practices if I sign-up?

A: Pinellas Park United has moved field locations to Puryear Park. This is located at:

5701 Lee Street NE St Petersburg, FL 33703

Q: How can I sign my child up for soccer?

A: Signups can be done using the website or by visiting the field directly during practice or games and speaking with the club Registrar or Director of Coaching.

Q: Are dogs allowed on the field?

A: No, canines are not allowed on the soccer fields themselves. Due to previous issues and for the safety of all younger children, we ask that you leave the family dog at home or keep it on a leash when using the public walkways.

Q: What time(s) are practices?

A: Fall Recreational practices are 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. for the U12 age group and younger. U13 and older can expect practices from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. ; this may change if a majority of the parents wish to practice earlier and a field/coach is available for them.

Q: How can I obtain a refund?

A:  Due to previous difficulties, PPYSA does not return money on any registration fee. All parents registering their child for soccer sign a wavier that they understand this stipulation. Rare exceptions may be made where appropriate and approved by the PPYSA Board.

Q: Who do I talk to if I have a problem/complaint?

A: Please see our Contact Us page, looking for the person specific to your issue. If you're having problems with the website, for example, find the current board member responsible for IT or Web Admin duties.

Q: How can I volunteer/help out?

A: To keep our non-profit organization going, fresh ideas, energies, sponsorships, and assistance are always needed. To meet your volunteer hour requirements specifically, please see the Volunteer page and sign-up for a slot. Once done, report to the indicated location at the time specified.

Q: How do I figure what age group my child should be in?

A: For Recreational soccer in Florida, the age group is based on your child’s age before August 1st of the current year. Ex. if your child is 7 before August 1st of the current year then he/she fall in the U-8 age group. If your child becomes 8 after August 1st, then he/she will still fall in the U8 bracket. If the child becomes 8 before or on August 1st, then the child falls in the U10 age group.

Q: Must I "Volunteer" for my child to participate in the club?

A: No, each family can opt out for a fee if they do not wish to volunteer. Contact the Board for the set fee. PPYSA is a non-profit organization and always in need of help from its members to keep the operation going smoothly. There are volunteer hours for each family, and it is encouraged to do so to support the youths’ organization. All volunteer opportunities/details will be during registration or you will be contacted by your child's team coach, team parent, or team manager. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Please be sure to sign a volunteer sheet to help us in any area that you can.

Q: Are there yearly City residents' fees in Pinellas Park United Soccer Club or Out-of-City residents' fees?

A: No, absolutely not! Pinellas Park United Youth Soccer Club is one that does not charge for any such fee, resident or not.

Q: What is provided for player uniforms?

A: The club provides a complete uniform: jersey, shorts, and socks. Players will need to bring soccer cleats, shin guards, and their own soccer ball.

Q: What size soccer ball is needed?

A: Size 3 (soccer ball) for tiny tots (3 years old) to U8 age group. Size 4 for U10 to U12. Size 5 for U13 and up.

Q: Can my child play up an age group?

A: Yes this is possible. However, that has to be authorized by the Director of Coaching. Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) governs our competitive program. Their rule/policy states that all players should compete at a level they are capable of, physically and developmentally. For players to move up more than one normal age group will require approval from the affiliate’s director of coaching or agent of record and FYSA Director of Coaching. Failure to obtain proper permissions may result in the player being removed from the team’s roster.

Q: Can my child play with friends on the same team every year?

A: Special requests for your child to play with another child cannot be guaranteed due to the blind draw rules of GYSA (www.soccergysa.org), the recreational league’s governing body. The only way players who are guaranteed to be together are the 3 protected players of any team which includes the head coach’s child, the assistant coach’s child, and the team sponsor’s child.

All other players are randomly drawn by another affiliated GYSA club. This does not apply to the Tiny Tots/U-6 ages; they are in house teams, not assigned teams. Therefore, requests to play or practice together are not necessary. Those groups practice on the same nights and play around the same times.

Q: When will I know my child’s coach’s name?

A: Parents who volunteer to be coaches will be chosen by the Director of Coaching, Rec. Coordinator, and the club board shortly after the completion of registration. We have a Meet the Coach Day/Opening Day Ceremony each year and you will be notified of your child’s coach a few days prior to or on that date.

Q: What are the days and time for practice and games?

A: Practice for junior age groups are on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Senior age group practice is from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. All teams have a game every Saturday. Practice starts in the 1st week of October after Meet the Coach Day/Opening Day Ceremony. The season starts on the 1st Saturday of November and ends in February. Those that make the All-stars, their season will end in late March after their Kohl's cup tournament. Fun, fun, fun!

Q: When will the schedule be out?

A: The league schedules will not be out until mid to late October depending on the age group. The process for scheduling games takes time as there are multiple games and multiple factors involved. You will be notified when the schedule is available to view online, or your child's coach and/or team parent will issue a copy of the games schedule to you.
